According to The Guardian Texas governor Rick Perry who is running for Republican nomination calls global warming "all one contrived phony mess that is falling apart under its own weight."

Before switching parties Perry served as Al Gore’s Texas Campaign Chairman in the 1988 presidential campaign, but apparently that did not convince him: "I've heard Al Gore talk about man-made global warming so much that I'm starting to think that his mouth is the leading source of all that supposedly deadly carbon dioxide," Perry said in 2007.

According to the Guardian Perry's campaign contributions reveal his allegiances, should any doubt still exist. Between 2001 and 2010 Perry has collected nearly $14 million in campaign contributions from individuals and committees associated with energy, natural resource extraction, and waste disposal.
